Treatment

The most effective and least traumatic method of treating FAI and labral tears is through the arthroscope (keyhole surgery). In some cases it is possible to repair the torn part of the labrum but in other patients the torn area is removed (excised). The impingement lesion (Cam or pincer) can also often be removed at the same time. This is called an osteoplasty. If the lesion is large then it is sometimes advisable for this to be excised through a small (10cm) anterior incision to ensure complete removal.
